Applicants for the City of Los Angeles certified welder examination must bring the appropriate Structural Steel Welding Code published by the American Welding Society (AWS) covering the scope of their examination.  For those interested in the structural steel welding certificate, the appropriate code book is AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel (2008 or 2010 editions).  However, the 2015 version can be used in prior approval from the LADBS has been obtained.
